Dear Editor,

I was ready to give my opinion about the casino in San Benito County as soon as I heard the first news. I’ve been successful in having people agree with me in my opinions, but here I am not so sure.

In my opinion, if the casino succeeds, it will be like someone close to dying from lack of water and somebody pours water in his mouth then the person will wake up and start walking (a miracle).

I know we have people in this area that would love to build up a Berlin Wall around this county just to please a few and let all the others starve to death. The question is: How long we should be incarcerated? Wake Up. I think everyone from Hollister is watching Gilroy flourish. I am sure there is no lack of work there. Unemployment is much lower in Gilroy than Hollister. Gilroy has had a great city council with vision and the help of intelligent supervisors. When I drive through there, I feel the gold under my feet. Success is the American way.

Sometime I ask myself if San Benito County belongs to a poor nation. I’m sure a casino will bring good and bad. I feel it will bring more good. Like anything else, I am sure we can adjust, you cannot succeed without taking chances. This county needs some kind of revival. I believe a casino would be the right medicine. Sixty-nine percent voted against measure G because they don’t want to be incarcerated. Enough is enough, San Benito County is American too.

Eight to 10 years ago, when our leaders started making a U-turn when things were great, I wrote letters to our Board of Supervisors predicting exactly what we have now, the direction they were taking were going to leave this county with no jobs and high unemployment. It is time for a change. I am sure we cannot count on the few leaders we have for the rest of the year. By attending meetings. I see nothing but “getting even.” I’ve never seen so much frustration. When you burn out there is no way you can see straight. It is tough to see the ones who were born here, grew up here, schooled here and not able to find a job where they can live here. I would like to ask whose fault is this?

This administration made the county a nest for the ones who don’t like to work, sleep during the day and vandalize at night and be supported by welfare.
