In a season that brought the Balers their first Tri-County Athletic League championship since 2005, and a berth in the Central Coast Section Open Division playoffs, San Benito was awarded with 14 all-league selections – a league-high total.

Jonathan Huaracha led the list for San Benito by gathering the TCAL defensive MVP. In his senior season, Huaracha helped lead a San Benito defense that allowed only 23 league points. Huaracha was the team-leader in tackles with 112 – 40 more than the next Baler.

Huaracha was also voted to the all-league defensive first team along with teammates Ryan Di Salvo, Damon Perez, Luis Orozco, Ricardo Sosa and Jorge Perez. Teammates Cody Freitas, Cody Cameron and Zach Nitzel were awarded spots on the second team.

On offense, senior center Zach Szyndrowski was voted the league’s Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman as well as a spot on the all-league first team. Robert Soto and fellow lineman Christian Galvan joined Szyndrowski on the all-league first team.

Quarterback Michael Bocksnick – despite missing three league games – was voted to the league’s second team with lineman Justin Power.

Lastly, San Benito quarterback and safety Josh George was named co-sophomore of the year. Taking over for the injured Bocksnick, George went 3-0 during league play.

George was also the San Benito safety, acting as the quarterback of the defense. George recorded two interceptions in the secondary.

San Benito’s 14 selections are a league-high. Palma came in second with 13 selections including offensive MVP running back Jack Myers.

Gilroy’s Jourdan Soares was honored with the league’s MVP. Soares was the league-leader in all receiving categories, including receptions (76), yards (1,477) and touchdowns (15).

San Benito Water Polo

After finishing third in the TCAL’s Mountain Division, the Balers were awarded with four all-league selections, including one first-team selection.

Caitlin Schafer, who was the league-leader is goals, assists and steals, was elected to the league’s first-team and was awarded the junior player of the year.

San Benito’s Hannah Blake, Rachel Estep and Hannah Smith were honored with second-team all-league selections.

The boys’ water polo squad, which won the TCAL Valley Division, was also awarded with four all-league selections. Jake Garcia, who was selected to the league’s first team, was voted the league co-MVP with Palma’s Nick Yeo.

Garcia also won the league’s junior player of the year award.

Senior Tyler Reuther joined Garcia on the all-league first team. Carlos Huerta and Jaret Barrios were selected to the league’s second team.

Head coach Aaron Gautney was selected as the league’s coach of the year.
