San Benito High School graduate Scott Mead, 23, was sworn in
this week as a member of the Watsonville Police Department.
For Mead, police work is a family calling. One older brother
serves on the Santa Clara police force; the other is a Salinas
officer. Mead has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the
University of Phoenix.
He’s been getting to know Watsonville.

During academy I did ride-alongs here every weekend,

Mead said.
The department has 72 sworn officers. Mead and Creager are
filling vacancies left by retirements last year.
