Longtime Superintendent Jackie Munoz is retiring at the end of this school year due to “philosophical differences with the majority of the Board of Trustees” for the Aromas-San Juan Unified School District, according to a letter she wrote to staff members.

Munoz has been with the district for 13 years. Her retirement is effective June 30 after 35 years in education, according to the letter.

She also sent a letter to parents in April informing them of the retirement. She first submitted her retirement papers to trustees March 17.

“Educating in our District has been extremely rewarding both professionally and personally,” she wrote in the letter to parents. “I have been blessed with watching so many children grow up to be productive and successful young adults.”

The district is seeking an interim replacement for Munoz.
