Scott Fletcher died unexpectedly in his San Francisco home. He was 60.

Mr. Fletcher grew up in Gilroy, the son of the late Stuart E. and Beth Talcott Fletcher. He served in the Coast Guard and was stationed in both Europe and Asia. His lifelong interests included film noir, antiques and music. Most recently he devoted himself to helping animals by adopting several homeless dogs and volunteering his services at San Francisco Animal Care and Control. Donations there in his memory would be much appreciated.

He is survived by his sister, author Wendy Pini, and her husband Richard, of Thousand Oaks, CA.

A private service is being held Saturday in San Francisco.
