Arnold-Jett
Michelle Marie Arnold and Andrew Michael Jett were married April 22 at Carolina Trace Country Club in Sanford, N.C. The groom is the son of Lee and Nancy Jett of Morgan Hill. He graduated from Live Oak High School in 1993 and from the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo., in 1997, where he earned a bachelor of science degree in biology/aerospace physiology. Andy is currently a pilot in the U.S. Air Force, stationed in Florida where he and Michelle recently purchased a home.
The bride is the daughter of Brigadier General (U.S. Army, Retired) Edwin Arnold and and Margaret Arnold (stepmother)Â of Sanford, N.C. She graduated from Waynesville High School in Waynesville, Miss., in 1998, and she earned her college degree in business administration/marketing in 2002Â from Texas A & M University in College Station, Texas.
The couple honeymooned on the island of St. Lucia, the West Indies.

Tyler Afflixio
Tyler Afflixio of Morgan Hill was named to the dean’s list for the 2006 spring semester at the University of Portland. Afflixio is a junior majoring in organizational communication. To receive a place on the dean’s list, students must earn a 3.5 or higher grade point average.
Daniel Darob Alavi
Daniel Darob Alavi, a 2001 graduate of San Benito High School, will graduate June 16 with honors from the University of California, Irvine, with a bachelor of arts in philosophy. He plans to attend law school. He is the son of Cindy Fahy and Behzad Alavi of Hollister.
Ryan Dequin
Ryan Dequin, son of George and Barbara Dequin of Gilroy, was named to the dean’s list for the 2005 fall semester at Montreat College in Asheville, N.C. To receive a place on the dean’s list, students must earn a grade point average between 3.5 and 3.8.

Alexa Duda of Gilroy was named to the dean’s list for the 2006 spring semester at the University of Portland. Duda is a sophomore majoring in secondary education. To receive a place on the dean’s list, students must earn a 3.5 or higher grade point average.
Nicholas Jon Van Dyke
Cadet Nicholas Jon Van Dyke of Gilroy graduated May 6 from The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina. Van Dyke earned a bachelor’s degree in physics. He also was named to the dean’s list. To receive a place on the dean’s list, students must be registered for 12 or more semester hours and earn a grade point average of 3.2 or higher with no grade below a “C” for the previous semester’s work. In addition, Van Dyke earned a Gold Star for achieving a 3.7 or higher grade point average. Van Dyke is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Nicholas Van Dyke.

Lisa Diane Watson
Lisa Diane Watson, a 2001 graduate of San Benito High School, will graduate June 17 from the School of Social Ecology with a bachelor of arts in criminology. She is the daughter of Dan Watson of San Jose and Anne Martinez of Hollister. Lisa plans to work and attend graduate school.
Charla Wilson
Charla Wilson of Gilroy graduated from Duke University on May 14 as Cum Laude with a bachelor of science degree in environmental sciences.
Elyse Wallash
Elyse Wallash of Morgan Hill will graduate with the class of 2006 at Notre Dame High School in San Jose. She plans to attend the University of California, Davis.
Marian Varda
Marian Varda of Morgan Hill will graduate with the class of 2006 at Notre Dame High School in San Jose. She plans to attend California State Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo.
Maria Palmer
Maria Palmer, a 2002 Gilory High School graduate, will graduate this month from Stanford University with a bachelor’s degree in economics. Maria plans to be a Peace Corps business volunteer in Latin America later this year. In the meantime, she will be working for Quinn Emanuel Urquhart Oliver & Hedges LLP law firm in Los Angeles. She plans to complete law school once she returns from the Peace Corps.
John P. Perryman
John P. Perryman of Morgan Hill recently completed California Highway Patrol cadet training and has been assigned to duty at CHP’s San Jose area office. Perryman is a graduate of Live Oak High School. He graduated with a bachelor of science in criminal justice administration from San Diego State University.
Military
Susan L. Dunlap
Captain Susan L. Dunlap of Morgan Hill was recently promoted to Major Command Ashore with the United States Navy and is slated to serve in Singapore. A native of Philadelphia, Dunlap attended Northwestern University on an NROTC scholarship and earned a bachelor of arts degree in English literature in 1984. She later attended the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey and earned a master’s degree in computer science. Over the subsequent years, she served in various capacities including chief engineer, commander in chief, placement officer and navigator. She served as Commanding Officer of Assault Craft Unit ONE from August 2001-February 2003. Her current assignment is with Commander, Naval Air Force, Pacific Fleet, in the Carrier Training Department.
Engagements
Johnson-Colón
Katherine Louise Johnson and Matthew James Colón will be married July 15. The bride is the daughter of Stephen and JoAnn Johnson of Aromas. She is a graduate of California State Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo, and works as an elementary school teacher in Morgan Hill. The groom is the son of Sharron O’Neill of Vacaville and Robert Colon of Brandon, Fla. He is a graduate student at California State Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo, and is working toward a master’s degree in computer science. The couple were engaged Aug. 28, 2004, at Walt Disney World in Orlanda, Fla. They plan to live in San Jose.
