Jenna Paetz and Kyle Mickiewicz are engaged to be married.

ENGAGEMENT: Paetz/Mickiewicz: Jenna Paetz and Kyle Mickiewicz are engaged to be married.
Jenna, daughter of Trish Paetz of Hollister, is a graduate of San Benito High School and Sacramento State University. She is a marketing/graphic designer with Voit Real Estate Services in Roseville.
Kyle, son of Dr. and Mrs. Timothy Mickiewicz of Sacramento, has a degree in economics from St. Mary’s College. He is a land and investments associate at Cassidy Turley in Sacramento.
The couple is planning a Sept. 7, 2013 wedding in Shasta County.

Inez Yuste Martin
Guess who turned 100 on July 23? Inez Yuste Martin, who was born in Hawaii on July 23, 1913 while her parents were traveling to the United States from Spain, celebrated her 100th birthday. Martin was raised in Hollister where she still lives today. She raised 10 children, six who live in Hollister, one who lives in Bakersfield, one in Reno, Nev., and two who are deceased. She has 21 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. A private party will be given Saturday, July 27 by her sons and daughters.
HONORS
Carly Johnson
Carly Johnson, a graduate of Anzar High School in Hollister, was named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at the University of Montana.
Maia Martucci
Maia O. Martucci from Morgan Hill graduated on May 25, 2013 from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota with a degree in English and minors in communications and education. She was accepted into the JET program and will move to Hiroshima, Japan in August to teach English.
Larry Azevedo
Larry Azevedo was recently honored with the 2013 Walter Rosenthal Award from the Model T Ford Club of America. Each year, a committee reviews nominations and the trophy is awarded tothe member who is judged to best exemplify the spirit of the Club’s first president, Walter Rosenthal.
Larry, a native of Gilroy, attended Gilroy schools, including Jordan, Severence, Wheeler, Gilroy High and Gavilan College, where he was in the first class to graduate in 1968. He went on to MIT and received a doctorate in physics from UCLA. He worked at Sandia Lab in Albuquerque, N.M. for 33 years. He’s now retired with his wife, Lorna.
Larry’s family all graduated from Gilroy High School: Grandparents Frank and Elise in 1917, mom Genelle in 1938, brother Don in 1970 and sister Shirley in 1973.
Ray Sanchez
Ray Sanchez, of Gilroy, was recently selected to be inducted into the Hall of Fame by the California Cosmetology Association.
Ray is a barber/stylist who attended Moler Barber College in San Jose and received his license in April 1957. He established his salon “Hair We Are” in San Martin on July 1, 1966. He is active in the American Legion Gilroy Post #217 and was elected adjutant. He helped establish three scholarships for business students at Gavilan College, as well as writing the criteria for the Don Hee/Leonora Williams Cosmetology Scholarships. Recently Ray was elected by the voters of Santa Clara County to sit on the Board of Directors of the South Santa Clara Valley Memorial District.
Ray has three children: Russ, Anna and Jay.
