BIRTH: Jacob Matthew Calderon: Jacob Matthew Calderon was born Nov. 10, 2012 at Evans Army Hospital to Stephanie (Smith) and Eric Calderon of Colorado Springs, Colo. He weighed 8 pounds.

Devon Parish

Army Pfc. Devon J. Parish has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches and field training exercises.

Parish is the son of Colleen Parish of San Juan Bautista, and Frank Parish of San Jose. He is a 2010 graduate of Anzar High School.

Heriberto Sandoval

Army Pfc. Heriberto Sandoval has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

Sandoval is the son Raquel Sandoval of San Juan Bautista.

Rosie Armstrong

Rosie Armstrong is Gavilan College’s Employee of the Month for October 2012.

Rosie is a senior program services specialist in the Community Education department and has been with Gavilan College since 2005.

She represents the best that Gavilan has to offer to the community. She anticipates student, instructor and staff needs and ensures that they are met, and is always thoroughly prepared. She participates in many college committees and task forces and comes fully informed and prepared to participate in meaningful discussion. Rosie is creative, resourceful and an excellent representative of the Community Education program as well as the Gavilan community.
