WEDDING: Rachel Biagi and Christopher Madewell were married Oct. 4, 2014 at Guglielmo Winery.
Rachel, daughter of David and Cathi Biagi of Morgan Hill, is a graduate of Live Oak High School and CSU Stanislaus. She is currently employed at North Coast Medical in Gilroy.
Christopher, son of Russ and Jane Madewell of Turlock, is currently vice president of Anytime Fitness in Morgan Hill, Gilroy and Hollister.

Mariella Cecelia Henderson was born Aug. 23, 2014 at San Jose Kaiser to Kristen and Christopher Henderson of Gilroy. She weighed 8 pounds, 13 ounces.

Debbie VanderZwaag
The Humane Society Silicon Valley (HSSV) welcomes Debbie VanderZwaag, of Gilroy, to the Board of Directors.
VanderZwaag is currently project manager for Driscoll’s Strawberry Associates in Watsonville and has held several business management positions at Novellus Systems (now Lam Research). She is an animal lover, caring for two cats, Sophia, an HSSV alum, and K-2, two turtles, Chard and Zin, and two dogs, Lucky and another HSSV alum named Bear. She has been volunteering at various nonprofit organizations for nearly 10 years and previously served as secretary and HR Committee Chair for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Silicon Valley. Debbie received both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Santa Clara University, is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources and is APICS Certified in Production and Inventory Management.
VanderZwaag lives in Gilroy with her husband, Bill Johanson.

Biola University has named the following local students to the dean’s list for academic excellence.

– Elizabeth Wallace of Gilroy
Biola students are placed on the list to honor those with a grade point average of 3.6 or higher while enrolled in 12 or more credit units and whose cumulative grade point average is at least 3.2.
