Paul Schreiber arrested

Sheriff’s detectives Friday morning arrested a convicted sex offender on suspicion of oral copulation and lewd and lascivious acts with a minor in 2009, according to the sheriff’s office.

San Benito County detectives around 9 a.m. Friday arrested Paul Schreiber, 42, on suspicion of the allegations.

According to the sheriff’s office, the suspected victim came forward last week and reported being sexually assaulted by Schreiber in 2009. Schreiber is a registered sex offender – convicted of continuous sexual abuse of a child, according to the Megan’s Law website – and has been on parole since 2008 for his prior offense.

Detectives arrested Schreiber at 1761 Wright Road near Hollister, while the state website lists his last known address as 2800 Salinas St. near San Juan Bautista.

The investigation continues. Anyone with information on Schreiber or possible other victims is encouraged to call the San Benito County Sheriff’s Office at (831) 636-4080 or their TIP-LINE at 636-4084.
