The San Benito County Sheriff’s Office has launched a Spanish version of its Web site, Undersheriff Pat Turturici announced.

“One of the things that came up in the election was – Victor Gomez was saying he had to help a Spanish-speaking relative use the police department’s Web site,” says Turturici, “and I thought: ‘He’s right! Law enforcement Web sites should be bilingual.'”

The undersheriff says that Irma Gonzalez, an employee of the county health department who contracted with the sheriff’s office for the assignment, completed the conversion this week and that locals can start using it right away. The Web site contains data on law enforcement contact information, bail, inmate visiting times, most wanted persons, missing persons, crime statistics and links to allied agencies, says Turturici.

For the office’s bilingual site, go to www.sbcsheriff.org and click on the “Espanol” tab in the left corner.
