The article on the front page of Friday’s Free Lance tells a pretty sad story of the quality of teaching for our local students.

A large room full of children at R.O. Hardin School are being prepared for the very important STAR Test, and the sign on the wall that should tell them “You’re Bright as Buttons” has a major grammar/spelling error. I think one of the teachers missed the class on contractions. It makes one wonder about the quality of information being taught in colleges to the future teachers.

It’s unfortunate that this lack of interest in correct usage gets passed on to our children.
