Breathe California is hosting its Ash Kickers Quit-Smoking classes from April 18 through May 16 at Gavilan College at 5055 Santa Teresa Blvd.

Classes will take place every Monday during this time frame from 6 to 7:30 p.m., with one additional class scheduled for a Wednesday on May 16.

The classes are led by a trained facilitator and offer smokers the resources to kick the habit. The six-session program helps smokers travel through the various stages of quitting, which includes thinking, preparing, quitting and preventing relapse, according to a press release.

According to the release the program has been shown to help numerous people start the path to a smoke-free life, with more than 60 percent of Ash Kicker participants becoming tobacco-free by the end of the program.

Cost is $50 with a sliding scale.
