My dog Smoochie goes above and beyond being my best friend, he’s also my service dog.
We live a little over 2,000 miles away in a small town in Minnesota, however we are fortunate enough to be getting help in training Smoochie from the fantastic folks right there in Gilroy at Operation Freedom Paws.
As my best friend and service dog, Smoochie not only has learned to be on his best behavior when out in public, he also has learned several tasks that are crucial in helping me navigate my way through each day, dealing with my PTSD.
The tasks he performs are vital, but the companionship, friendship and listening skills my best friend has are the difference between me “existing” and me “living.”
