The Anzar girls soccer team opened its 2011-12 season with a 2-0 victory over Soledad on Monday.
A corner-kick goal five minutes into the contest by Noemy Vazquez gave the Hawks an early lead. Brianna Miltimore was awarded an assist on the goal.
In the second half, Miltimore added another Anzar goal in the 70th minute.
Hawk goalie Monica Medina was credited with 6 saves. Briana Sotelo recorded 4 saves for Anzar as well.
The Hawks will travel to Watsonville on Wednesday to play Pajaro Valley in the Watsonville Tournament. The game is scheduled to being at 3:30 p.m.
