Brianna McCain scored two goals and the Anzar Hawks picked up another key win in Coastal Athletic League action on Wednesday when they defeated host York 2-0 in Monterey.

McCain pocketed the go-ahead goal in the 15th minute off an assist from Mali Gonzalez, then tacked on an insurance goal in the 75th minute off an assist from Myra Quezada.

“We dominated, basically the entire game,” Anzar head coach Carlos Flores said. “They were touching beautifully and they really had a great game today.”

The Hawks improve to 6-3 in the CAL as a result of the win, 10-6 overall, but continue to trail both Pacific Collegiate and Gonzales in the league standings.

Anzar will visit Pacific Collegiate on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. — the team’s regular-season finale.

“They’re playing like they should be in the playoffs,” Flores said. “They’re playing great caliber soccer right now.”
