Sydnee Masuen scored two goals to lead the Anzar Hawks past host Marina by a 5-0 margin on Thursday in Coastal Athletic League action.

Masuen deposited what would be the only goal the Hawks would need in the 12th minute of play. She then added a second score to open the second half, finding the back of the net in the 57th minute off an assist from Alex Flores.

Anzar is now 3-2 in the CAL and 7-5 overall.

The San Juan Bautista school is still staring up at Pacific Collegiate, however. The Pumas remain undefeated in league play, while Anzar, Gonzales and York are all jockeying for second place.

Anzar still has two games remaining against PCS, though.

“We have two games left against them,” head coach Carlos Flores said. “So hopefully we can do some damage.”

The Hawks provided plenty of offense on Thursday, just two days after defeating Trinity Christian by a comfortble 9-0 mark.

Following Masuen’s unassisted score in the 12th minute, teammate Myra Quezada punched one in during the 34th minute, while Valerie Quezada set up Lauren Bellone in the 40th minute to give Anzar a 3-0 lead just before halftime.

Valerie Quezada added a goal in the 72nd minute.

The Hawks will host Pacific Collegiate on Monday at 3:30 p.m.
