The San Benito boys soccer team lost to host Palma 3-1 on Monday in Salinas in Tri-County Athletic League action.

The Chieftains grabbed a 1-0 lead just before halftime when Daniel Johnsen scored on an unassisted goal in the 32nd minute.

Johnsen then tacked on two more goals in the second half — one in the 48th minute and another in the 63rd minute — to give Palma a comfortable 3-0 lead. Both goals were assisted by Conor Boulger.

San Benito didn’t find the scoreboard until the 71st minute, when Ricardo Roque scored on an assist from Brian Cruz to break the shutout.

The two teams played to a scoreless tie in their first meeting on Jan. 7.

The Balers (2-4-1 TCAL, 5-8-1) will host Alisal on Thursday.
