San Benito High’s girls soccer team was reinstated in the Central Coast Section Division I playoffs Thursday, and the 11th-seeded Balers were granted a trip to Milpitas to play third-seeded Los Gatos in the quarterfinals at noon Saturday.

San Benito originally was eliminated from CCS with a 5-0 loss at Palo Alto on Wednesday, but the Balers were reinstated by the CCS after Palo Alto was forced to retroactively forfeit amid much controversy Thursday.

Palo Alto forfeited because one of its players, Jacey Pederson, had participated in a U.S. national team camp that was not approved by the California Interscholastic Federation.
