Mari Vallejo, Brittany Hoff and Brittani Newman each supplied RBI singles, Paige Miguel tossed seven shutout innings, and the San Benito Lady Balers remained perfect in the Tri-County Athletic League with a 3-0 win against visiting Salinas on Wednesday.

It is San Benito’s third straight win, and third straight shutout, since losing to Notre Dame in a non-league contest at the Steinbeck Classic in Salinas on April 17. The Lady Balers are now 7-0 in the TCAL, 18-2 overall, and have outscored their seven league opponents by a 42-3 margin.

Paige Miguel made sure Salinas went silent in the game. The junior hurler allowed five hits and two walks in seven innings, striking out eight Cowboys in the process.

Meanwhile, Mari Vallejo’s RBI single up the middle in the third inning put the Lady Balers ahead 1-0 as pinch-runner Ali Ocampo scored from second base on the play.

The narrow lead held until sixth inning when San Benito tacked on two insurance runs. After Jessica Vest walked and stole second, Brittany Hoff connected on a “swinging” bunt, San Benito manager Scott Smith said. Vest, who was stealing third, advanced home on the play to put the Lady Balers up 2-0.

Later in the inning, Brittany Sparrer lined a single off the pitcher, pushing Hoff into scoring position, while teammate Brittani Newman followed with an RBI single up the middle to push San Benito ahead 3-0.

The Lady Balers, who had six hits in the game, have swept the season series against the Cowboys with Wednesday’s win. San Benito previously defeated Salinas 5-1 on March 30.

The Lady Balers are off until next week when they will travel to Everett Alvarez on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

Meanwhile, San Benito’s scheduled game against Notre Dame on April 15, which was postponed, has been rescheduled for May 7 at 4:30 p.m.
