Hollister High senior Broc Sondgroth will join basketball players from Santa Cruz and Santa Clara counties in the 18th annual Kiwanis North-South All-Star Game Saturday at Hartnell College in Salinas.

Tip-off is at 8 p.m. for the boys game.

Balers Gina Caianiello and Naomi Ruiz will join all-star girls from the T-CAL, Monterey Bay League and Mission Trail Athletic League in the preliminary contest at 6 p.m.

Sondgroth, an all-Tri-County Athletic League second-team selection for the 2002-03 season, won’t be lonely on the bench. The north squad will be coached by Baler coach David Kaplansky.

He’ll also be joined by Live Oak’s Miles Curley, voted the T-CAL’s Most Valuable Player, and Daniel Wynn of Watsonville High, the Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League’s leading scorer.
