Rain tops Christmas list
Well, here it is, the middle of December, Christmas is only two
weeks away and we’re still looking for more rain. Come on Santa,
all we want for Christmas is rain! Hopefully it will be here in the
next few days or all the green grass that has starting poking
through is going to be in trouble. Like I said before, it’s kind of
hard to get into the holiday spirit with the warm, dry weather
we’ve been having.

Well, here it is, the middle of December, Christmas is only two weeks away and we’re still looking for more rain. Come on Santa, all we want for Christmas is rain! Hopefully it will be here in the next few days or all the green grass that has starting poking through is going to be in trouble. Like I said before, it’s kind of hard to get into the holiday spirit with the warm, dry weather we’ve been having.

We’re trying to get in the holiday spirit around here. The King City Lighted Christmas parade took place last Friday night in town. Sierra Jo was on the King City High Basketball team float while Taylor Jo Hurley and Jensen McFarland represented the King City Riding Club. Cole McFarland and Twyster Hurley rode in the CHP cars down Broadway.

On Saturday, we headed to Bourdet’s Christmas Tree Farm in Hollister to get our tree. It was a tough choice too. There was a huge assortment of big, beautiful trees to choose from. As always, the kids picked out the perfect tree. On our way home, we stopped by the 19th Hole for a delicious dinner. Carlos and Shauna seem to have a great business going there as the tables always seem to be full when we’re there. The atmosphere is good and the food is great so be sure to stop by and say hi to Carlos and Shauna next time your going through Tres Pinos.

Birthday wishes go out to Tamra Barrington who celebrated her birthday last Thursday, and to Jake Stephenson who celebrated on Sunday the 7th.

The King City High Lady Mustangs hosted their first annual Pancake Breakfast last Saturday morning at the high school cafeteria. Some of those enjoying delicious homemade pancakes included Alberta Rist, Bill and Robin Rist, Susan Nino and Ed Copley. The girls served over 180 breakfasts. The homemade pancakes were made by John Madson and homemade syrups were made by Betty Barrington. Both Jim and Betty Barrington spent the whole morning working in the kitchen as well. Thanks to all those who came to the breakfast or just bought tickets to help support the Lady Mustangs.

The girls played in two exciting games last week. They headed to Hollister last Tuesday to take on the Lady Haybalers. They played a great first half but lost their momentum in the second half. The Haybalers had a very fast, strong team, including Sophomore Nicole Rianda. Some of those taking in the action from South County included J.W. and Candace Brewen and the girls, Kyle, Tina and Kayla Plunkett and Braden and Marissa Donovan, Jim and Betty Barrington and George and Sandy Rose.

The Lady Mustangs played another great game last Thursday at home against Cambria. It was a back and forth game that the girls lost in the final seconds by only one point. The Mustang boys were able to pull off the win against Cambria later in the evening.

George and Sandy Rose had us over last Sunday morning so the kids could help rope and brand their calves. After we got done there, we headed to Bill and Robin Rist’s to help them brand their calves. Some of those helping out at Bill and Robins were Mathew Rist,Kenny, Colleen and Casey Sabin, Tel Jones and the Sans family. Cynnie O’Connor and Kassie were there as well. Cynnie was taking more photos to add to her collection.

A huge thank you goes out to the King City Police Department on their quick action and arrest of the cowards who shot into the crowd at the King City High Soccer game last week. It’s times like that when we start to think that maybe it’s time to pick up and move elsewhere, but thanks to the great work of our policemen, we can feel a little safer now. My thoughts and prayers are with the two kids, innocent bystanders of course, who were injured by the shots.

The Bitterwater Tully School Christmas program took place Wednesday, Dec. 10 at Tully Hall. The concert was followed by a potluck dinner and maybe even a visit from Santa.

Have a great week and be sure to give me a call or e-mail me at we********@ao*.com with any news you’d like to share.
