Track: Balers defeat Salinas in final dual meet

With a chance to win a dual meet championship, the San Benito girls and boys track and field teams had a lot to aim for during Wednesday’s dual meet finale against Salinas in Hollister. And after a slow start, the Balers pulled off a pair of victories over their rival.

Roundup: Six-run sixth leads to Balers win over North Salinas

The Balers improved to 19-4 Tuesday, beating North Salinas 10-0 in Hollister. Its’ the Balers third consecutive victory after falling to Christopher last week. At 12-2 inside the Monterey Bay League, San Benito holds a one game lead over rival Palma.

Roundup: Estrada takes third in 1600 at Top 8

At the CCS Top 8 track meet Saturday at San Jose City College, the Balers finished with five top-5 finishers, as Bellarmine and Los Gatos took home the team titles.

For the second time this year, the San Benito boys volleyball team rolled past Gilroy, defeating the Mustangs 3-0 (25-13, 25-6, 25-11) to improve to 22-7 on the year.

Tennis: Balers look toward 2014

After winning the Pacific Division title a year ago, SBHS boys tennis coach Chris Yoder knew 2013 was going to be a very different story. On Tuesday, the Balers 0-14 season came to a close with a loss to Carmel at the Ridgemark Tennis Center.

Roundup: Golf team takes second at MBL finals

Once again, the San Benito golf team had a strong showing but, again, Palma stood in their way. The Balers took second place in the Monterey Bay League’s Gabilan Division, carding a 212 to Palma’s 194 at Del Monte Golf Course in Monterey.

Baseball: Balers separate from Palma

Despite winning seven consecutive league championships and back-to-back berths in the Central Coast Section title game, the San Benito baseball team knows its first step is simple: Beat Palma.
