After falling in the first game of the Valley Christian Tournament on Monday, the San Benito baseball team rallied for two consecutive wins to improve to 13-3 overall.

After going 2-1 during the Redwood High School tournament over the weekend, the San Benito volleyball team improved to 14-4 overall.

Like most years during the spring on the dirt track at Andy Hardin Field, expectations are soaring high for the Balers track and field teams. With seniors such as Vanessa Estrada, Savanna Wilson and Maura Forbush, it’s hard not to think that way.

Behind a dominant performance from the San Benito distance runners, the Balers easily handled North Salinas in both the boys and girls track and field meet Thursday in Salinas.

Coming into last year’s final Tri-County Athletic League championship meet, the San Benito girls swimming and diving team was looking to win its fourth consecutive league title. Because of an early split-second leap in the 400-yard freestyle relay, though, that fourth straight title was taken from their grasp. 

Through eight matches this season, the Balers tennis team has yet to find its winning ways of a year ago. San Benito fell to 0-8 on the season Wednesday, falling 6-1 to Stevenson at the Ridgemark Tennis Center.

It’s been since 2006 that the Gilroy HIgh softball team has been able to best San Benito on the diamond. But that doesn’t mean they haven’t had their chances, and Tuesday that streak continued in Gilroy as the Balers made it 20 straight wins over their rival.

The San Benito boys and girls golf teams will be hosting the Baler Golf Tournament and Fundraiser on April 14 at San Juan Oaks Golf Club.
