Girls soccer head coach Ben Alvarez knew the 2012 season was going be a strange year. He lost size and experience between the past two seasons and he needed to rely on young and inexperienced freshmen.

It didn't go as planned for the San Benito wrestling squad Saturday at Palma High in the Tri-County Athletic League championships, but the Balers will be represented well at the Central Coast Section tournament Feb. 24 and Feb. 25 in San Jose.

With six straight Tri-County Athletic League championships in a row, and a last-inning loss in the Central Coast Section championship game a year ago, the 2012 San Benito baseball team has a lot of history to live up to.

After a season where the San Benito wrestling squad finished with a 3-3 record in league dual matches, the Balers look to start the postseason on a much brighter note.

This year, the boys basketball team has lived beyond the 3-point line, hitting nearly 150 3-point shots in 24 games. Wednesday was no different.

Entering the fourth quarter down by three points, San Benito's Jordan Belton looked to pull the Balers closer with the first possession of the final quarter. But a couple of bad Baler passes and turnovers later, the Balers dug themselves into a hole they couldn't recover from.
