Stanley Augustine Haugland born March 14, 1929 in Cincinnati, OH to Ruth Joy and Augustine Haugland. He grew up in Tacoma, WA with his brother Renwick and sister Beverley. Stan joined the Marines at 17, and proudly served from 1946 to 1953.
On February 4, 1951, Stan married Isabelle Smith and they had two sons Mark and Bruce Haugland. On May 20th 1972, he married Carol Smith. With this marriage, he acquired 3 children, Gene, LaDawn, and Juli, who will testify that their bond transcends DNA and they have loved him as a father for 40 years. Music was Stan’s passion. He took part in many musical productions including a recent part in “Annie Get Your Gun”. Stan was a member of SPEBSQSA for many years, loved singing in the church choir, and entertaining senior citizens at convalescent homes. Stan was a member of the Marine Corp League and a regular at the Morgan Hill Senior Center. He was a generous, kind and loving person who would do anything for another. He remained active in the Morgan Hill community and lived life to the fullest. Stan is survived by his brother Renwick Haugland, 3 sons Mark Haugland, Bruce Haugland (Laurie), and Gene Snyder, 2 daughters LaDawn Snyder, and Juli Steenhuis (John), 9 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
Stan passed away peacefully at home in Morgan Hill on Wednesday December 9, 2009 after spending a night of bonding and laughter with his sons. He did it his way, they played some music, sang some songs, and then he went to sleep peacefully. He will be missed by many. Memorial Services will be held Friday December 18, 2009 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Morgan Hill (1790 East Dunne Ave) at 11:30 A.M. with graveside service to follow at Los Gatos Memorial Park at 1:00 P.M.
