Steven M. Andrade died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2004 at UC San Francisco Medical Center. He was 53.

He was born in Hollister. He was married to his wife, Christina, Dec. 29, 1973 in Hollister. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church and had worked for Hayward Lumber, McKinnon Lumber and Scarborough Lumber prior to working for the Hollister Free Lance where he was employed for the last 10 years.

Mr. Andrade was a lifetime resident of Hollister and very active in the community, serving with a number of organizations including Jovenes de Antano, Baler Boosters, Babe Ruth, Little League, Pop Warner, Tremors Soccer and Hollister Heat Softball.

He was a graduate of San Benito High School and attended Gavilan College.

Mr. Andrade is survived by his wife, Christina Andrade of Hollister; children and their spouses, Steven and Valerie Andrade of Hollister, Gino Andrade and Stacy Schwall of Hollister, Matthew Andrade of Hollister and Elena Andrade and Michael Yamaoka of Hollister; brothers and sisters, Joe Andrade Jr., Lawrence Andrade, Carol Martinez, Alex Andrade, Annette Lopez and Michael Andrade all of Hollister; and grandchildren, Steven Andrade III, Zachary Andrade, Michaela Andrade and Clay Schwall all of Hollister.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Rose Andrade, brother Abraham Andrade and twin sister Stella Andrade Wilson.

A vigil service will be held Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004 at 7 p.m. at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home. Rev. John Amelio of Glad Tidings Church will officiate.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday, Jan. 30 at 2 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church. Friends can gather at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. for a procession to the church.

Interment and graveside services will follow the Mass at Calvary Cemetery.

Friends can pay their respects Thursday, Jan. 29 from noon until 9 p.m. at the funeral home chapel.

Donations are preferred to Jovenes de Antano or any youth sports program in Hollister c/o Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home, 363 7th Street, Hollister, Calif., 95023.
