San Benito High School students entering certain classrooms this fall will be greeted by air conditioning and modernizations that incorporate Baler red accent colors.
The 300 wing classrooms received air conditioning, new windows, a pin board wall, new carpet and paint, said Rob Zimmerman, the high school’s manager of maintenance, operations and facilities. The 400 wing classrooms received air conditioning.
A total of 17 classrooms, one staff break room and two bathrooms were affected by the changes, Zimmerman said. The projects cost about $2.4 million, according to numbers approved by trustees in early summer.
The school’s Baler red was incorporated into several carpet squares and the classroom storage cabinets. Red tiles also bordered a black “H” representing the school’s “Haybaler” mascot in the bathroom.
“He wanted to throw a little Baler flair in there,” said Zimmerman, who credited the ideas to Superintendent John Perales.
