The vast majority of county residents are in favor of growth control. Development pressures from the north are now influencing our county political races. Measure G will cap growth to current levels and put this vital issue in the hands of voters. Our Supervisors will benefit by being insulated from the pressures of developers and land speculators. Even candidates who oppose Measure G admit that they can live within the Measure G growth limits.
Any growth control measure that actually works will garner angry opposition from those who seek short-term gains from land speculation. Landowners have a right to the real value of their property. No one, however, has a “right” to profit from the speculative value of their land any more than a stock buyer has a “right” to profit from stock purchases. Measure G is carefully written to protect the legitimate property rights of landowners.
Please join me in supporting planned and reasonable growth in San Benito County. Vote “Yes” on Measure G.
