Hollister – A Hollister man was arrested for the second time this month for felony drug sales of methamphetamine on Saturday.
Chase Williams Rogers, 22, of Hollister, was arrested by the San Benito County Sheriff’s Office on suspicion of several felony drug and weapon charges, including suspicion of possession of drugs with intent to sell and illegal gun possession on Saturday, Sheriff’s Lt. Roy Iler said.
Deputies stopped Rogers on Las Vibaros Road in Hollister for a faulty car headlight, Iler said. A deputy saw Rogers allegedly reach under his seat, Iler said. The deputy drew his gun and ordered Rogers out of his vehicle, Iler said.
Deputy Dix, the German Shepherd who works on the Sheriff’s K-9 unit, was called in to sniff out any potential drugs in the vehicle, Iler said. Dix found 5.06 grams of meth and 3.34 grams of marijuana in the vehicle, Iler said. Deputies also found several boxes of small bags, a scale, two cell phones, $145 in cash, a knife and a meth pipe, Iler said.
Hollister Police had a similar encounter with Rogers in early November.
On Nov. 7 Rogers was arrested by police on suspicion of drug possession, drug distribution, illegal gun possession and resisting arrest, police spokeswoman Rosie Betanio said. Police noticed Rogers in a car on West Street near Dunne Park after the park’s hours, Betanio said.
Officers approached the vehicle and saw several rounds of ammunition, Betanio said. Upon further inspection of the vehicle police found 17 grams of methamphetamine along with small bags and a gun, Betanio said.
Because Rogers was released on his own recognizance after the Nov. 7 arrest and allegedly committed another crime he could face additional punishments, Deputy District Attorney Candice Hooper said.
Hooper has not yet filed formal charges against Rogers.
Rogers’ attorney, Greg LaForge, declined comment Thursday before completing his own investigation into the case.
Rogers is being held at the San Benito County Jail in lieu of $50,000 in bail.
