Morgan Hill

Three alleged participants in the March 12 burglary of Big 5 Sporting Goods in Morgan Hill will appear in court Friday to enter a plea to a list of charges, including marijuana cultivation accusations for two of the suspects.

Alexis Tomines, 28 of San Jose was arrested hours after the early morning burglary in which police say seven rifles were stolen from the store on Cochrane Road through a hole cut in the wall.

Found in Tomines’ vehicle when he was arrested near Fontanelle Drive in San Jose were seven guns, some of which were confirmed stolen from Big 5 the same morning.

Shortly after that arrest, police executed a search warrant at the home he was leaving but where he was not a resident, and found more stolen merchandise, some of which matched items stolen in a 2008 burglary of Radio Shack in Morgan Hill. Police also seized 37 marijuana plants that were growing in the home.

On March 25, police arrested two residents of that home. Ramiro Lozano, 34, and Roxanne Villabrille, 35, both of San Jose, were arrested for their involvement in the Big 5 burglary.

In the course of their investigation, Morgan Hill Police Special Operations had obtained a $1 million arrest warrant for Lozano. He was arrested as he was leaving a house near King Road and Burdette Drive in San Jose.

Officers then went to his home off Fontanelle Drive and arrested Villabrille, who was also living there.

Lozano faces charges on seven counts of grand theft, buying or receiving stolen property, cultivation of marijuana, and other charges, according to Santa Clara County’s District Attorney’s spokeswoman Amy Cornell. He is in county jail in lieu of $1 million bail.

Villabrille is charged with buying, receiving, concealing or withholding stolen property, cultivation of marijuana, and one count of possession of marijuana for sale. She is in jail in lieu of $250,000.

Tomines faces seven counts of grand theft, one count of possession of a firearm by a felon, and six counts of buying or receiving stolen property. He is out of jail on an $80,000 bond.

The plea hearings are scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. at South County Courthouse in Morgan Hill.
