The Balers’ four game winning streak came to an end Tuesday, as the squad dropped its match to Monterey 5-2.

The Balers switched up their lineup of the match, moving Audrey Marshall to the No. 1 singles position and dropping Ally Triolo to the No. 2 spot. Despite the change, neither could pull of a win Tuesday.

Marshall dropped her first match in the No. 1 slot in straight sets, losing 6-0 and 6-2.

Triolo didn’t do much better, dropping her match in two sets by scores of 6-4 and 6-2.

Kelsey Slavich played the closest match of the day, losing in a tie-breaking third set by a score of 10-6. Slavich was able to force the third set by running away with the second set with a 6-2 win.

Amanda Alvarez was the only singles player to come away with a victory Tuesday. Alvarez ran away with the win, beating the Monterey opponent 7-5 in an extended first set and 6-1 in the second set.

The double pairs didn’t do much better for the Balers, winning only one of the three matches. Gianna Brigantino and Berenice Bribiesca were able to take their match in straight sets with scores of 6-0 and 7-5.

The loss brings the Balers record to an even 4-4. The Balers travel to Salinas High on Thursday to continue league play.
