celebrated his 85th birthday.
Thomas J. Medeiros died at William and Inez Mabie Skilled Nursing facility on Feb. 21. He was born in Hollister and just celebrated his 85th birthday.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Frankie, who died in 1988.
He worked in a dairy that he was a partner in with his father and brother and managed the San Benito County Fair and Saddle Horse Show. He was a member of the Hollister Elks Lodge, Sacred Heart Church, The American Legion and served in the Army during WWII. He also was a past member of Rotary, a third generation San Benito County resident and an accomplished artist with work represented in his cowboy and western paintings. A coffee group still meets today that Tom was instrumental in starting with Lester Schipper, Reesce Dooley, Howard Schipper, Larry Stewart, Bob Henry, Hans Slibsager, Andy Velosing and Mason Kusart.
He is survived by his daughter and son, Francine Medeiros-Allaway of Santa Monica and Thomas Medeiros Jr. of Hollister; his stepson, Rod Bailey of Dayton, Wash.; and his stepdaughter, Metha Ray Schuler of Petaluma. He is also survived by numerous step grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Friends are encouraged by the family to join them on Friday, Feb. 25 from 1 to 3pm at the home of Thomas Medeiros Jr., 1701 Severinsen St. Hollister for a celebration of Tom’s life and a reception.
Arrangements and cremation are through Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home and Gavilan Hills Crematory.

Interment of Mr. Medeiros’ cremated remains will be in Calvary Cemetery with his wife, Frankie.
