Hollister – Three men were sent to the hospital Monday morning after a head-on collision on Fairview Road.
The crash occurred at about 11:25am just south of Comstock Road. A southbound white Ford pickup truck veered into the northbound lane and hit a white Chevrolet pickup truck, California Highway Patrol Officer Alan Carmo said. Officers closed Fairview Road for more than 90 minutes to clear the crash from the roadway.
Two men were in the Chevrolet and one man was in the Ford, Carmo said.
The driver of the Chevrolet suffered major injuries, including broken legs, Carmo said. CHP officers did not release the names, ages or injuries of the men involved in the crash Monday.
The CHP also did not return the Free Lance’s calls for more information.
Helicopters took two of the men to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, Carmo said. Another helicopter had been called in from Modesto, but the CHP did not know where the third man was being taken.
Lupe Castillo, who lives on Aquistapace Road, said she did not hear the squeal of tires, but felt the collision while she was in her motor home Monday.
Castillo said the curve on Fairview Road near her home is dangerous.
“We’ve been asking for years for there to be a blinking light here,” Castillo said. “This turn is a liar.”
The exact cause of the crash is still under investigation, but seat belts were being worn and alcohol was not involved, Carmo said.
