Hollister police on Saturday arrested three minors suspected of burglarizing Cerra Vista Elementary School, according to police.
At about 4:30 p.m., a citizen reported several juvenile males breaking into a portable classroom at Cerra Vista Elementary School, while the suspects fled prior to an officer’s arrival, according to police.
According to police, Officer Luis Toribio investigated and found a classroom had been forcibly entered. Police said nothing was stolen. But TV wires were cut, computer equipment was vandalized and graffiti was on walls, police reported.
While processing the scene, Toribio noticed a male watching the investigation and behaving suspiciously. Officer Toribio confronted the male, 17, who then confessed to the burglary and vandalism. The suspect also gave Officer Toribio the names of two other males, a 17-year-old and a 16-year-old, also suspected of participating in the crime. Toribio arrested all three suspects, who were then booked into the San Benito County Juvenile Detention Center.
Police also noted in a statement it wanted to acknowledge that without citizens reporting such a crime, it likely would be unsolved.
Anyone with further information regarding this incident is requested to call Toribio at (831) 636-4330. Those wishing to remain anonymous may call WeTIP at (800) 78-CRIME.
