HOLLISTER
One look at the Thyme Market and Catering Co. menu might evoke memories of the Main Street Bistro.
Former owner Megan Ward, who’s opening Thyme with business partner Kate Mayhorn, said that there are “a lot of items on the menu that were on the old menu.” Ward Mayhorn opened Thyme last week offering what Ward said is “like a Mediterranean market.”
Mayhorn is “pretty excited” about the opening of the store and said the location and convenience should be quite an upside. Other than being the only Italian food vendor in Hollister, Mayhorn said Thyme is convenient and good for “stopping by and picking something up for dinner.”
The market took a more simplified approach than the Bistro, said Ward. With no dining space and fewer employees, “everything is simpler and more manageable,” Ward said. She added, “I loved the Main Street Bistro – it just became more than I could handle.” Ward sold the bistro when she had kids but still wanted embark on a similar project.
Ward said that she would like have grand opening celebration, but would also like to get everything organized and running smoothly before having such an event.
Thyme offers a wide variety of foods from appetizers and cheeses to sandwiches and entrees, all which can be picked up from their location at 748 San Benito St. Along with imported specialties and assorted retail goods, the store also offers catering, which Mayhorn expects will be a large part of their business.
“I hope to have that be 50/50 with the catering.”
