I see John Sarsfield has finally sent his strike force on the
attack. The only issue they criticize is that some of the opposing
letter writers chose the Citizens Voice forum where they don’t sign
their names rather than the letters to the editor. That’s spin, a
diversionary tactic; nothing more than a simple maneuver to get our
attention off the real issues.

To his supporters, Mr. Sarsfield never going to court is apparently of no concern to them. The missing tape and his DDA removed from the case, not an issue. The Santos confession is thrown out of court by the judge, no problem. One year in jail for a cold-blooded killing, so what. Robert Orabuena, who cares.

Who cares? We should all care. That could have been anyone of us.

I personally would like Mr. Sarsfield to come out from behind his strike force and explain to us what went wrong here, accept responsibility and get on with life. The hardest part of making a mistake is admitting it, especially for a politician.

The rule of thumb for a good leader: When things go well, give your troops the credit. When things go bad, take the blame. To be a leader, you have to be out front. If you’re in the rear, you’re just a follower.

In his editorial, Mr. Fitzgerald pokes fun at the situation and even jokingly suggested a fistfight between Art Cantu and John Sarsfield. Personally, the only confrontation between the two of them that I want to see is in a courtroom.

In two of the court cases mentioned above, Mr. Cantu has soundly spanked Sarfield’s two Deputy DAs. It’s time John does what he was elected to do, get in the courtroom and take care of the people’s business.
