If you want to play well in the cold winter conditions, prepare yourself for the elements.
Too often golfers go out for a round unprepared and their scores reflect it. It would be like a football player playing a game in the mud with tennis shoes instead of football cleats with extra long spikes.
First and foremost, preparing for wet weather golf requires an umbrella. It will keep you and your clubs dry. Make sure you have something that keeps your clubs dry, because once the grips get wet it is very difficult to completely dry them out. The supports for the umbrella can be used as a place to hang a towel and/or gloves because it will always be dry underneath. Remember, it is far more important that your equipment and hands stay dry then any other part of your body.
When playing in cold weather, the most important thing is to keep feeling in your hands. This can be accomplished with hand warmers. The disposable, single-use ones are inexpensive and work great, and you don’t have to worry about having anything lit in your pocket.
Many players will also heat their golf balls before they play because a warm ball will travel further than if would if it was kept in a cold garage all night. Cart windshields and heaters are also popular items to bring to the golf course.
You can still golf this winter, just come prepared.
