ART 105 show open through April: San Benito High School students will have artwork on display at the Blak Sage Gallery through April 21, at 727 San Benito St. The gallery is open Wednesday and Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Friday, from noon to 5 p.m., and Saturday, from noon to 5 p.m., and April 14 and 21, from noon to 5 p.m. An artists’ reception will be held April 13, from 3 to 6 p.m., with music and light refreshments. Annual Easter egg hunt: The Veterans of Foreign Wars and Ladies Auxiliary Post 9242 will host their annual Easter egg hunt at Veterans Memorial Park March 30, at 1 p.m. There will be three hunting areas for children of different ages, including 2-4, 5-7 and 8-10. For children that do not find any eggs, there will be some available at the command post. No parents will be allowed in the hunting areas and the hunt will start exactly at 1 p.m.

Women’s Club starts flamingo fundraiser: The Women’s Club of Hollister will be surprising local residents with their second annual Pink Flamingo Flocking Project April 1-15. The block of birds will arrive in front yards starting on April 1, with residents to make a donation to the Women’s Club in exchange for having the plastic birds removed and sent on to another yard. The fundraiser is one of several to be hosted by the Women’s Club of Hollister during its centennial year. Details: Call Kim at 831-207-7016.

ARC hosts humanitarian law course: The American Red Cross Monterey Bay Area Chapter is offering an International Humanitarian Law course to residents of Monterey and San Benito counties March 30, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Monterey Institute of International Studies, McGowan Building, Room MG99, 411 Pacific St. The class is about the rules of engagement in armed conflict (the Geneva Conventions). The American Red Cross played a critical role in the development of International Humanitarian Law and continues to play a leading role in educating the public about its importance. The course includes information about American Red Cross international relief efforts in areas of armed conflict as well as the reunification of families who are victims of conflict. A major segment of the course will explore how International Humanitarian Law can help protect people who are the most vulnerable in times of war and armed conflict.
