1.) Antique Fair: The Rotary Club of San Juan Bautista will host its 49th Annual Antique and Collectibles Fair Aug. 12, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., in San Juan. An appraiser will be available from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event this year will include an increase in vendors and food booths. All proceeds go to the club’s community grants program, emergency fund for local families, leadership opportunities for high school students and the donation of dictionaries to all third-grade children in the Aromas-San Juan Unified School District. 2.) Open Mic Night: An open mic night will be held at Blak Sage Gallery, Aug. 7, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Artists can perform music, poetry, prose and more. Come and share your talent or come and enjoy the program. Everyone is welcome. You can present in any language, English, Spanish, Spanglish and more.
3.) Jovenes de Antano flea market: Jovenes de Antano senior services is hosting a flea market Aug. 11, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Hollister Community Center, 300 West St. Donations of items are accepted and vendors can reserve a space for $25. 4.) Sabbath Keepers ride: The Sabbath Keepers Motorcycle Ministry will have a ride Aug. 12, with check in between 10 and 11 a.m., and the ride from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The ride will start and end at Relax! Grillin’ and Chillin’, 3650 San Juan Road, in Hollister. The cost is $20 for a single rider or $30 for a double rider. Money raised will benefit local foster children as they head back to school. 5.) Pinnacles monument to host speakers series: Pinnacles National Monument will host a speakers series in August, starting with Interpretation Ranger Jennifer Updyke’s talk on how Pinnacles National Monument has been valued by its inhabitants. Resource Ranger Sara Reid will talk about the complex relationship between people and plants, Aug. 11, at 2 p.m., at the Pinnacles National Monument West Visitor Center (on the Soledad side of the park); Superintendent of the Juan Bautista de Anza National Historic Trail Naomi Toress, talking about the 1,200-mile journey along the trail, Aug. 18, at 2 p.m. at the Visitor Center; and Valentin Lopez, the chairman of the Amah Mutsun Tribal Council on the relationship between descendants and the Pinnacles, Aug. 25, at 2 p.m., at the Visitor Center.
