The San Benito High track and field team swept host North Salinas in all divisions in the final Tri-County Athletic League dual meet of the season on Wednesday in Salinas.

Although final scores were not reported at press time, San Benito coach Iran White said the Balers were victorious in both the boys’ and girls divisions at both the varsity and junior varsity level.

The Baler boys even swept both the 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles events, earning first, second and third place at the meet.

In the 110 hurdles, Jayjoel Fernandez was first in 16.13, Lucas Haro was second in 16.47, and Justin Rendon was third in 16.64. Later, in the 300 hurdles, Taylor Lothman took first in 42.39, while Rendon and Haro finished in second and third place, respectively, clocking times of 42.69 and 43.15.

In the 800 meters, Scott Medina tried his hand in the middle-distance race as part of his training. Normally competing in the 400 meters and the 300-meter hurdles, Medina took first in the 800 meters on Wednesday, recording a 1:57.

In the field events, Enrique Ramos hit 50-0 to take first in the shot put.

On the girls’ side, Vanessa Estrada took first place in both the 800 meters and 1,600 meters, recording times of 2:34.91 and 5:17.40, respectively.

Darian Maroney also took first place in the 300-meter hurdles, posting a time of 51.86, while Krystal Alnas took first in the discus with a throw of 110-07, and first in the shot put with a throw of 34-05.

The Balers are now off until the TCAL Trials, which are scheduled for Tuesday, May 10, at North Salinas High School. Meet time is 1:30 p.m.
