It was a clean sweep for the San Benito High track and field team on Thursday, as the Haybalers posted convincing wins over host Alisal in both the boys and girls meets.

The varsity boys cruised past the Trojans 123-16. Jose Castillo took first place in the mile with a 4:38, while Jason Roascio recorded a 50.4 in the 400 and Frankie Martinez threw a 147-05 1/2 in the discus.

On the girls side, the Lady Balers recorded an 83-44 victory against the Salinas school. Melisah Cortez took first in the 400 with a time of 63.00, while Michelle Duarte was second in the mile, but posted a strong time with a 5:29.

At the lower ranks, the girls junior varsity defeated Alisal 77-48, and the boys frosh/soph team upended the Trojans by a 69-53 margin.

This weekend, San Benito will travel to Watsonville to compete in the Wildcat Relays. Races get under way at 9 a.m.
