The San Benito boys and girls track and field teams will be well represented at the Tri-County Athletic League finals Friday at Gilroy High.

Twenty members of the boys team will compete in TCAL finals Friday in a combined 31 events — three fewer competitors than last year. On the girls side, 16 members will compete in 32 events for San Benito — an improvement from last years 14 individuals.

A Baler will compete in every event besides the pole vault.

Both teams finished the TCAL dual season undefeated and are expected to capture the championship.

If the girls team wins, it will win a two-year drought. Last year the team finished second to Notre Dame, and in 2010, the team finished in fifth place.

The boys team will try to capture its second-straight TCAL title.

Eight boys will participate in multiple events including Alex Garratt (100 meters, high jump, long jump) David Kret (200 meters, 400 meters), Taylor Lothman (200 meters, 400 meters) RJ Collins (800 meters, 1600 meters), Lucas Haro (110 meter hurdles, 300 meter hurdles, long jump, triple jump) Benjy DeVries (110 meter hurdles, triple jump), Zack Szyndrowski (shot put, discus), Erik Rivera (shot put, discus).

Other boy qualifiers include Christopher Len (100 meters), Omar Vasquez (1600 meters), Ricky Esqueda (1600 meters), Brian Tobias (110 meter hurdles), Russell Tobias (110 meter hurdles) Francisco Gutierrez (shot put), Justin Power (discus), Christian Galvan (discus), Christopher Cook (high jump), Austin Cascio (high jump), Ricardo Gonzalez (long jump) and Connor Rule (triple jump).

On the girls team, 12 of the 16 girls will compete in at least two events. Team captain Darian Maroney will compete in four events, including the 100 meter hurdles, 300 meter hurdles, high jump and the triple jump.

Other girl multi-event participants include LeNae Stevens (100 meters, long jump), Savanna Wilson (100 meters, long jump), Jessi Pfeifer (200 meters, 400 meters), Maura Forbush (200 meters, 400 meters, 1600 meters), Vanessa Estrada (800 meters, 1600 meters) Amy Quinones (800 meters, high jump), Molly Lamanna (1600 meters, 300 meter hurdles) Krystal Alnas (shot put, discus), Breanna Lowther (shot put, discus) Elizabeth Reikowski (high jump, long jump, triple jump) and Simone Cooper (long jump, triple jump).

The Balers do not have a pole vaulter.

The TCAL finals begin at 4 p.m. in Gilroy.
