A 60-year-old Gilroy man was arrested on drunken driving and drug possession charges late Monday night after California Highway Patrol officers reportedly spotted his car dangerously weaving back and forth on Frazier Lake Road.

Douglas Samuel Cameron of 500 W. 10th St. was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, drug trafficking, possession of a controlled substance for sale and having an open container of marijuana, the CHP said.

Cameron, who is being held in San Benito County Jail in lieu of $12,000 bail, could be sentenced to as much as six years in state prison if he is tried and convicted on all the charges, according to the state penal code.

The 11:30 p.m. arrest happened when Cameron was on Frazier Lake Road weaving in and out of the southbound lane, the CHP said. At one point, Cameron’s car reportedly drifted completely off the road and onto the dirt shoulder, the CHP said.

Officers pulled Cameron over just north of Shore Road and gave him a field sobriety test, which he reportedly failed with an estimated blood alcohol content of 0.20 – more than twice the legal limit, the CHP said.

Officers searched Cameron and his car after arresting him and reportedly found nearly 12 grams of methamphetamine, a scale and a small amount of marijuana, the CHP said.
