Editor,
I would like to start off by saying that I understand the concern that people have regarding the whole “pit bull” issue. The only problem that I see with that is any dog has the potential to bite a human. The problem is that people train their dogs in the wrong way. I mean come on now, if you hit an adult do you not expect them to hit you back? The same goes for animals.
If you don’t want to run the risk of getting bit or being sued for your dog bitting someone then stop the abusive training. Dogs are like children, you don’t have them just to make money. So why people insist on fighting their dogs is still a puzzle to me.
I am a owner of a pit bull, and he is the sweetest dog around. There are a lot of issues that need to be addressed in this town about dogs, but it is not just pit bulls. I have a five-year-old step child that got bit on the face by a woman’s mutt. And, in my opinion, that dog should have been put to sleep since it was not the first vicious act. But the pound let the woman come and get her dog out and for a small fee that will never replace the scars that my step child will have to live with for the rest of her life.
If it was up to me, any dog that preformed a vicious act would immediately be laid to rest.
