A veteran San Jose police officer from Gilroy charged in August with unlawful sexual contact with two teen boys won’t know his trial start date for at least another month, according to the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office.
Patrick D’Arrigo, 44, appeared in court Thursday, but his trial-setting hearing was pushed back to March 1, District Attorney’s spokeswoman Lisa McCrary said.
D’Arrigo, a 17-year San Jose Police Department patrol officer and former campus officer at San Jose’s Leland High School, could face up to three years, eight months in prison for engaging in sexual activities with a 15-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy, whom D’Arrigo connected with through Craigslist, according to prosecutors.
D’Arrigo has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
He was arrested Aug. 31 after he was indicted by a secret grand jury and his home was searched by Gilroy police.
Officials at a county crime lab have pored over computers, cell phones and flash drives seized from D’Arrigo’s home, said Deputy District Attorney Stuart Scott, who is prosecuting the case.
D’Arrigo remains on paid administrative leave, according to the SJPD.
