Steven Ramsey

Local authorities this week arrested two Hollister men suspected of stealing property from four homes, according to the Hollister Police Department.

Sheriff’s office and police department investigations led to the recovery of property and arrests of Steven Ramsey, 20, and Thomas Shores, 30.

On Saturday evening, several homes in the city of Hollister and San Benito County were burglarized. During their investigation, San Benito County Sheriff’s deputies learned that credit cards taken from a victim’s home had been used in an area business. Their investigation led them to Shores and a description of a suspect vehicle. While attempting contact with Shores, Ramsey drove past deputies in the suspect vehicle.

According to a police statement: An enforcement stop was made on the vehicle. Stolen property from both the county and city burglary cases was located in the vehicle. These discoveries led to the arrest of Thomas Shores and Steven Ramsey.

The Hollister Police Department then served a search warrant at suspect Ramsey’s residence. More stolen property from both the city and county cases was recovered. Property from one unreported residential burglary was also recovered. Most of the recovered stolen property has been returned to its rightful owners.

Shores was booked on suspicion of possession of stolen property and fraudulent use of a credit card. Shores is being held at San Benito County Jail with a bail of $30,000. Ramsey was booked on suspicion of six counts of possessing stolen property, forgery, fraudulent use of a credit card, possession of a controlled substance and being under the influence of a controlled substance. Ramsey is also being held at San Benito County Jail. His bail is $96,000.
