The major American League Yankees and the major National League Nationals will represent Hollister at this weekend’s District 9 Tournament of Champions, a single-elimination tournament that pits the top local teams against the top teams in the District 9 area.
District 9 includes Salinas American, Salinas National, Gonzales, Greenfield, Atlantic (Salinas), North County, Ferrasci (Salinas), Continental (Salinas), Hartnell (Salinas), King City and Soledad.
The Yankees and Nationals will open the TOC on Saturday. The Yankees will square off against Soledad Little League, while the Nationals will play Hartnell Little League of Salinas.

During the regular season for Hollister Little League, the Yankees (19-5) were champions of both the first and second half, and automatically advanced to the TOC as a result.
The Nationals (19-4), however, were champions of the second half of the regular season, and had to face off against the first-half champion Cardinals on Tuesday night to see which team would move on to TOCs.
In what was a rematch of last year’s major national championship game, though, the Nationals hit six home runs over nine innings and defeated the Cardinals 9-7 at Veterans Memorial Park.
The Cards, which beat the Nationals in last year’s championship, finish the regular season with a 19-4 record.
