A 25-year-old Hollister man was killed in Stockton on Sunday in a three-vehicle accident, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The accident occurred around 5:40 p.m. Sunday on Highway 4 near Main Street in Stockton.
The man killed in the accident was Alberto Garibay Fuentes, according to the San Joaquin Coroner’s Office.
The Hollister driver and a 33-year-old man from Stockton man had been eastbound in a 1999 Honda Civic when the car swerved to avoid debris, hitting the center divide and spinning out of control. A second vehicle behind the Honda, a 2004 Buick Park Avenue driven by a 23-year-old woman from Stockton, swerved as well and also hit the center divide before spinning out of control.
A third vehicle, a 2007 Mazda 6 driven by a 52-year-old Fair Oaks man, attempted to avoid a colission but struck the driver’s side of the Honda.
The passenger in the Honda and driver of the Buick sustained minor injuries, while the Mazda driver was uninjured, according to the CHP.
