Police have released more details on Monday’s high-speed pursuit that ended with a foot chase and the arrest of a wanted 18-year-old Hollister man.

Hollister police were led on the chase at 3:57 p.m. Monday after recognizing one of the passengers, wanted felon Armando Munoz.

According to a press release issued by the Hollister Police Department, Officer Rudy Rodriguez attempted to pull over the vehicle in the 1700 block of Airline Highway. The vehicle, which held Munoz and three male juveniles, did not yield and the pursuit began.

A short time later, the vehicle crashed into a curb in the 800 block of Marne Drive and was disabled, according to police. All four of the occupants fled.

Rodriguez pursued Munoz on foot through the back yards of several Hollister residents.

From there, according to the press release: “The wanted felon jumped over one more fence and onto Sunnyslope Road where Sergeant James Egan and Officer Nick Carlquist were holding a perimeter. Sergeant Egan and Carlquist gave chase. Sergeant Egan captured the subject in front of Rite Aid, 1701 Airline Hwy., without further incident. Before his capture, the subject tossed a fully-loaded .38 caliber revolver into a bundle of fresh-cut Christmas trees.”

Munoz was arrested on suspicion of possessing a concealed, loaded firearm; burglary; resisting, obstructing or delaying an officer; and violation of probation. Charges are pending today, according to the district attorney’s office.

According to the press release, officers then returned to the scene of the accident where witnesses directed them to a residence where two of the juvenile suspects were hiding. Officers searched the residence, located the two suspects and arrested them without incident. The driver of the vehicle was arrested for felony evading, and resisting, obstructing or delaying an officer. Police arrested the passenger on a no-bail warrant and resisting, obstructing or delaying an officer. Whereabouts of the fourth suspect are unclear.
